I acquired a Monster Bash in January of 2006. This machine was in
decent shape. Initially I shopped this pin by removing everything from
the playfield, replacing the plastics, plastic and metal posts and other
items. I also polished the playfield using Treasure Cove's polish kit.
After I was done, I was not completely satisfied. There fore I
embarked on a complete re-do. I acquired a Bill Davis clearcoated
playfield. I then decided that I would also re-decal the cabinet. I
bought a set of cabinet decals. This was the beginning of the
snowball that started to roll down the hill. After all was said and done,
I replaced:
- Playfield
- Cabinet Decals
- All the playfield creatures
- Playfield plastics.
- NOS Right ramp
- All the playfield standup targets
- Entire flipper assemblies
- Dracula and Frankenstein motors
- Bride assembly
- All metal and plastic posts
- All nuts and screws
- All coils
- All bulbs
- All rubber
- Popper weldment
- Launch, Start and flipper buttons
- Coin door
- Legs & Leg bolts
- All carriage bolts, stripped and repainted
Boy did this project get out of control. Well now that I am done I have
an absolutely gorgeous Monster Bash.
Below I have documented the process.

Here I have started the playfield strip down.
Some pics of the playfield
Here we have the beginning of the cabinet stripdown.
Here you can see a decking screw I have countersunk into the
cabinet. The corners were coming apart and this one screw fixes
that problem.
Prepping the cabinet. The first thing that needs to be done is to
remove the glue. Then you need to fill in all the imperfections.
When not working on the cabinet, I took time out to swap the playfield.
Prepping the cabinet. Be sure to seal with a primer/sealer. Then
use some semi-gloss black to paint all of the black parts.
